This page is our web meeting place for ALL Hyatt family members -- wherever you may live. We have our reunion every year the first Saturday in August in the Qualla (Whitter, NC) community of Western North Carolina, just outside the town of Cherokee (Eastern Band of the Cherokee Indians). Please write, we would love to hear from you (email links are below and you can use the contact us page). Our ancestors are first from England, and included Sir Charles Hyatt and his sons. Shoal Creek is part of the Qualla Community and is the location of our 2016-2017 president, Robert Hyatt. We're looking forward to meeting, hearing from, and sharing with YOU! Robert Hyatt received a handwritten letter from Karan Llewellyn in which she recounts her Hyatt genealogy. Sometime around 2008 as Robert recalls she and her elderly mother visited Emily and Robert in Cherokee on a mission to find info re. Edward Hyatt's Revolutionary War records of which Robert had none. However her mother had a treasure trove of Hyatt genealogy ( perhaps the most extensive of any ) which is now in Karan's hands.

​Obituary for Ed Hyatt

Tyree Edward Hyatt, 81, passed into eternal life on January 24, 2021. A native of Greer, son of the late Tyree Walter and Mae Masters Hyatt Scott, he was born January 26, 1939. Edward attended Wofford College, spent 3 years in the United States Army and retired after 37 years with BellSouth. He was active with Meals on Wheels, Past Master of the Bailey Masonic Lodge in Greer, SC and a member of the Hejaz Shriner Marching Patrol. Mr. Hyatt was an active member of Zoar United Methodist Church in Greer, SC.
Surviving are his wife of 57 years, Gail Carpenter Hyatt of the home; one daughter, Stacey Hyatt Wascom of Duncan; one brother, Ken Hyatt of Anderson; four grandchildren, Maxwell Wascom, Hayden Wascom, Hunter Wascom all of Duncan; Laine Hyatt Caiaccio of Atlanta, GA; one special cousin, David Masters of Greer; and one son in law, Kevin Caiaccio of Atlanta, GA.
Mr. Hyatt was predeceased by a daughter, Susan Hyatt Caiaccio.
A memorial service will be held 2:00 p.m. Saturday, February 13, 2021 at The Wood Mortuary Chapel conducted by Rev. Michael Cheatham.
The family will be at their respective homes.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Greenville Humane Society, 305 Airport Road, Greenville, SC 29607 or Alpha One Foundation, 3300 Ponce de Leon Boulevard, Coral Gables, FL 33134.
He will be greatly missed by his constant companion, Lacey, always waiting on her walks with her buddy.

If you can ignore a friend’s limited education and never correct him,
If you can face the world without lies and deceit,
If you can conquer tension without medical help,
If you can sleep without the aid of drugs,
If you can honestly say that deep in your heart you have no prejudice against creed, color, religion, or politics,
Then, my friend, you’re almost as good as…my dog!
